Nokonoshima Island is located in Hakata Bay, Fukuoka City. To get here, visitors must travel by ferry about 10 minutes. Ferries from Meinohama pier depart at certain times, once every hour, until 16:00.
Spring from March to April is when yellow canola flowers bloom.
Each season, the scenery on the island brings a different color with more than 300,000 flowers. In the past, this place was just a normal island, few people lived. People mainly live on fishing. Thanks to growing flowers and cultivating some fruits, Nokonoshima becomes a tourist destination not to be missed when coming to Fukuoka city.
Guests can use bicycles to explore around the island. Many Japanese people like walking to exercise. They spend all day exploring the island. Guests can also use the bus to get to the sights.
Tulips and dragonflies are two of the attractive flowers in spring and autumn.
Flowers here are grown in rows and divided into certain areas. The Japanese also intercrop flowers in some gardens to create accents.
The ideal time to visit this place is in the morning when the sunlight is still mild, making it easier for you to take photos. The afternoon at sunset is also the moment many people choose. However, this time is a bit cold and windy if in spring, you should prepare more coats.
Caring, fertilizing, weeding and watering are done daily by the workers to ensure the garden is always beautiful in the eyes of visitors.
Areas where care is taking place are temporary barriers. “We always have to finish the work in each flower bed as quickly as possible,” one worker said.
On the island, there is also a restaurant, coffee shop, souvenir shop to serve tourists. You can also take a class of traditional Japanese pottery making. Photographers can rent a kimono at the store when they first arrive.
